In a recent class at SHHR, I was teaching adults how to connect to horses. I explained how touching and grooming a horse is a very good way to establish a connection. Each student was to choose a horse to partner with out the seven horses present. Their assignment was to get to know the horse through touching and grooming with the lead rope draped across the horse’s back. This allowed the horse to walk away at any time during the exercise.

Q. How do you influence the horse to want to stay with you?

A. By becoming the most important factor in the horses existence in this particular time of being together.

Q. How do you accomplish this?
